The taste for bamboo reached the European decorative arts as early as the eighteenth century, which imitated its knots and canes even in bronze. The maison Charles renewed that tradition: a table whose X-shaped base, cast in bronze, takes up the knotted segment of the bamboo cane, polished or patinated. The square top rests on this crossing of stems. The metal, worked to the nearest detail of the plant, keeps the swelling of the knots.
