by La Maison Charles, 1900 { The Charles }
From the eagle of the Roman legions to that of Napoleon, the bird of prey with outstretched wings has long stood as a symbol of empire and victory. Maison Charles has cast it in gilded bronze, talons firmly planted and wings spread wide, atop a dark column encircled by an imperial emblem. The column rises from a small cubic base. The light plays across the intricate relief of its feathers, each individually chiselled, and sets the eagle’s silhouette in sharp relief against the shaft of the column.
