Anthony Guerrée was born in Normandy in 1987 and grew up in L’Aigle, surrounded by woods and countryside. He trained at the École Boulle, then continued his apprenticeship in Japan with a master glassblower. He became interested in the interior designers of the 1930s and in the relationship between drawing, materials and craftsmanship.
In 2010, he joined Studio Andrée Putman, where he worked on interiors and furniture in collaboration with artisans and leading craft houses. Five years later, he joined Christophe Delcourt’s team, spending five years contributing to the development of Delcourt Collection and to the designer’s collaborations with French and international publishers. These experiences shaped his approach to furniture, grounded in the places it inhabits, the way it is used and the crafts involved in its making.
For the maison Charles, Anthony Guerrée conceived Solstice, a lighting series comprising a wall light and a lamp. Each piece is made from brass blades, twisted and curved by hand, with narrow gaps that let a thread of light pass through. The circular base rises towards a square top, in a movement inspired by the solstices, when the sun reaches its highest point. He describes Charles as a workshop where materials are understood, respected and brought to their full expression, and where light is made with the precision used to sculpt metal. In his words, each piece becomes “a sculpture inhabited by light”.
