Feuille D Eau

by Chrystiane Charles, 70's   { The Charles }

On still water, aquatic plants raise their long leaves: the maison Charles made of Chrystiane Charles's Feuille d'Eau lamp the foot of a console. From the base rises a tuft of bronze leaves, chased and veined, that opens into a sheaf to carry the glass top. The bronze, silvered or gilt, renders each fold. The glass, set on the points of the leaves, seems to float above the bouquet. The aquatic nature becomes a support: the console grows from the floor like a plant at the pond's edge.
