On the beaches of Guadeloupe, the sea grape deploys its great round leaves, veined like fans. Peter Woodward cast a single one in bronze, raised at the end of a fine stem on a dark base, like a herbarium specimen mounted for study. The gilded patina sets the relief of the veins playing. The piece comes in three sizes. Isolated and enlarged, the tropical leaf becomes an object of contemplation, a fragment of island set on the console.
