Where the legs meet the top, Olivia Putman slipped broad ginkgo leaves in bronze that seem to grip the table like vegetal brackets. The dark rectangular top rests on four fine tapered legs, and the leaves, at the junction, make all the ornament. The bronze of the leaves stands out against the dark patina of the base and the top. Nature invites itself to the joint of the piece: the leaf is no longer a motif laid on, but a part of the structure.
