West of Kyoto, the bamboo grove of Arashiyama raises its canes so densely that the light comes down filtered, green, in motion. Pierre Salagnac has planted a bouquet of them in silvered bronze: a tuft of slender stalks of varying heights springs from a polished geometric base. The fabric shade, drawn out horizontally, is pierced by the tallest canes: the forest keeps growing up through the light. Each stalk is chased down to the detail of its nodes.
