by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
In Asia, bamboo stands for resilience, prosperity and purity: it bends in the wind without ever breaking, grows faster than any other plant, and stays green when all else goes bare. Chrystiane Charles has cast a cane of it in gilt bronze, faithful to the swell of the internodes and to the vertical split of the bark. The foot of this table lamp holds its vertical from a single polished length. The brass shade, gold-lined, carries the warmth of the metal upward.
