by La Maison Charles, 2008 { The Charles }
Conceived by Luc Gensollen in 2008 for the centenary of the maison Charles, Bubbles is heightened by the rare technique of verre églomisé, silvered by hand and signed by the master glassmaker Stéphane Rivoal. At the scale of a pendant, the spheres form a constellation: dozens of mirrored bubbles gather into clusters that radiate around a central hub, like the branches of a snowflake or a star. Twenty-eight lights sit between them, which each sphere reflects and multiplies. The piece comes in silver, gold or black. Depending on the eye, it takes on the look of a cloud or of champagne bubbles, and sets the whole ceiling glittering.
