by La Maison Charles, 60's { The Charles }
Contemporary counterpart to Laurent Charles's Colonne Chapiteau, the Colonne Moderne strips the shaft of all ornament: the maison Charles raises a column of nickelled bronze, smooth and bright, marked by a turned ring, on a stepped square base, beneath a shade of pale pleated fabric. The reflection runs, unbroken, from base to summit. The vertical, here, turns clean and precise.
