by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
The corolla is the whole of a flower's petals, opened in a crown around the heart. Jacques Charles has made of it the foot of this lamp: brass blades that rise from the floor and curve outward, like petals parting, carrying high a metal shade. The structure, all curves, seems to bloom. The matte metal catches a soft light. The flower, here, is not figured but suggested by the single movement of the opening blades.
