by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
In the 1960s, Jacques Charles launched a great series of stainless-steel lighting, resolutely Seventies in spirit. The Tambour belongs to it. It sets the rhythm and carries the voice far off: it is its form, the taut cylinder, that this lamp takes up. Jacques Charles has slipped around a column of polished steel a broad drum, of glass or Plexiglas, that girds the shaft at its middle and diffuses a soft light. The metal climbs, straight, above and below the shade.
