by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
An arch in its simplest form: the right curve, to span, to bear, to step over. Jacques Charles has crossed several of them in polished metal to build the foot of this lamp — curved bands rising from the floor, meeting and carrying high a cylindrical shade. The structure, all openwork and taut lines, seems barely to touch the ground. The metal throws the light back along its edges.
