by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
Since the beginning we reach out toward the moon without ever touching it. Jacques Charles has sculpted that gesture: a blade of bronze springing from the floor, curving into a crescent to gather a sphere in the hollow of its tip. The moon set down, at last, in a hand of metal. The globe comes in glass or brass; the bronze, polished or patinated, runs in a single clean curve. Without a shade, the light is born from the sphere itself, round and full.
