Ludovic Lesassier, bronze fitter at Charles, brings the lamp out of a contrast: a slender, textured stem of silvered bronze springing up, set on a small core of raw metal, like a pebble gathered on the beach. The base, rough and full, anchors the vertical; the top, soaring, frees it. The fabric shade, pierced by the stem, caps the whole.
