It was a flat folding rule of a Swiss make that inspired Meter. It unfolds, segment after segment, to measure space. Philippe Parent drew from it the arm of this lamp: a brass rod that folds and extends above the work surface, carrying the shade where it is needed. The mechanism, in plain view, makes the ornament. The square base anchors the whole. The fabric shade caps the articulated arm. It is a workshop lamp turned drawing-room object, where the measuring tool inspires the line.
