by Philippe Parent, 2015 { Collaborations }
In the theatre, a single raised panel is enough to make a set. Philippe Parent plays on that: the shade, of leather or brass, curls and opens at the back like a stage cloth left ajar, mounted on a fine metal frame and a flat base. The rigidity of the shade holds the curve; the light escapes through the slit. The piece comes in a gilt or silvered mount. Everything is a matter of fold and framing, like a staging reduced to essentials.
