Meter

Like the folding rule from which it takes its name, the Meter lamp unfolds: Philippe Parent makes of it here a floor lamp whose articulated arm extends and folds to bring the shade out above the armchair. The metal column rises straight from a flat base. The mechanism, left visible, becomes the ornament. The With Shelf version (ref. 2203-1) adds a shelf at mid-height, placing the book within reach of the light. It is a reading lamp that measures the space it lights.
