Espadon

by Jacques Charles, 60's   { The Charles }

The swordfish, swift, cleaves the sea with its long sword-shaped rostrum. Jacques Charles has drawn from it a very slender sconce: blades of polished metal, tapered to a point at the top and the foot like the fish's own bill, curve around a vertical axis. The light wells from the heart of the blades and runs along the wall. The metal, gilt or chromed, sharpens the tension of the form. Raised, the piece keeps the keen bearing of the sword of the seas. It comes in several sizes.
