Oceanide Large With Led

by La Maison Charles, 2011   { The Charles }

The Oceanids, daughters of Ocean, peopled the waters of Greek mythology. Conceived for the Hôtel Burgundy, the blade of this sconce, drawn by Jean-Manuel Freitas, which coils into the form of a conch, was the origin of the leaf of the Angela chandelier. A blade of polished metal, gilt or silvered, twisted and folded like a wave turning over or a nymph's veil caught in the current. The light, lodged in the hollow of the folds, flees and glides on the wall. The mirroring metal espouses the movement of the water.
