Brother to the Sloane lamp, Mathô takes the form of a great brass disc, like a leaf of gold, set against the wall, struck at its centre with an umbilicus turned in concentric circles. Söhé David-Kawauchi and Hadrien Francillon made of it a shield of light: the source, lodged behind the central disc, projects a golden halo all around that seems to set it floating on the wall. The gold leaf, laid by hand, vibrates with its craquelure. Behind, an alabaster base completes this singular piece. Lit, the sconce turns the wall into a field of sun.
