by La Maison Charles, 60's { The Charles }
The octagon is the figure of transition between the square and the circle: found in baptisteries as in the cut of a precious stone. The maison Charles has made of it the heart of this lamp, a block of Armenian stone cut to eight faces, dark and faceted, mounted on a stem above a square base. The rectangular brass shade caps the whole. The polished stone throws the light back from each of its faces.
