by Jean Charles, 60's { The Charles }
Borne by the victors of the ancient Games, planted along royal avenues, the palm is one of the oldest symbols of triumph. Jean Charles keeps its trunk: a column of bark cast in gilt bronze, each scale chased like those of the date palm, from which a few fronds escape close to the base. The mirror-polished brass shade, topped with a finial, crowns the column. The light comes down along the bark and reveals the relief of the shaft.
