Arcturus shines in spring as the brightest of the stars of the boreal sky, in the constellation of Boötes. The sconce seems a projection of it in levitation: a bronze frame traces a long descending point and holds at its heart a circular alabaster panel, a pale disc set on the void. Like a chest, the screen conceals LEDs: the original work adapted by Charles to the techniques of today. The light wells from the translucent stone: held at the centre, it haloes the wall softly and sets the star floating above its wake of bronze.
