by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
The stepped pyramids of pre-Columbian Mexico rose toward the sky in successive tiers, each terrace narrower than the last. Chrystiane Charles has drawn from them a tiered base, square plates stacked in steps of lacquer and metal, from the widest to the most drawn-in. The shade — rectangular or conical — crowns the structure as a temple its summit. The lamp plays the pure game of repeated geometry. It comes in several versions.
