by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
In Egyptian mythology, the sun is reborn each morning from a water lily: the flower opens at dawn and closes at dusk, and it was from its corolla, so the story goes, that the star first rose on the first day. Cast in bronze by Chrystiane Charles and spread into corollas, this sconce holds its points of light within a single body of leaves and flowers, drawn with the precision of a botanical plate. Hours of chasing give each leaf and each flower its veins. It comes in several versions, single or multiple, of 3 or 14 leaves.
