Sculpture Femme

by Jacques Charles, 60's   { The Charles }

From the female silhouette, Jacques Charles keeps the surge: three bronze legs rise from the floor, curve, and meet in a shaft that opens at the top into a loop, like an arched body with raised arms. The fabric shade caps that opening. The hammered bronze keeps the trace of the hand. The figure is never literal: it surfaces in the twist of the lines.
