The falbala is that flounce of gathered cloth, the furbelow with which skirts and curtains were once trimmed. Philippe Parent kept its ornamental spirit: on an oval backplate, two bronze arms cross and knot at their centre like two tied ribbons, each carrying a small shade. The ends of the arms taper into volutes. The light descends from the fabric shade that joins them.
