by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
Laurel crowns victors and poets: since Antiquity its leaf is the sign of glory. Chrystiane Charles has composed from it an imaginary flower, the lauriflore: a corolla of laurel leaves cast in gilt bronze, opened in a star around a dark, grained heart. The flower lies flat on a rectangular base, low, as though risen from the ground. The light, lodged at its centre, runs along the pointed leaves and sends the gold radiating to the edge.
