Pharaon

The Egypt of the pharaohs has never ceased to fascinate the West, from Bonaparte's return from Egypt to the drawings of Art Deco. The maison Charles has made of it the foot of this lamp: a standing pharaoh, arms along the body, cast in bronze with a green patina heightened with gold on the nemes and the loincloth, raised on a pale cubic base. The dark fabric shade, narrow and tall, extends the figure's vertical. The figure, hieratic, carries the lamp like a temple statue.
