by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
At Pointe-à-Pitre, in the heart of Guadeloupe, the bird of paradise blooms: a tropical flower whose pointed petals open in a fan, like the crest of a bird about to take flight. Chrystiane Charles has drawn from it a sheaf of bronze leaves, raised and recurved like flames or feathers caught by the wind. Strips of LED lodged in the leaves light them from within, underlining every stria. The whole rests on a cubic copper base. The bronze keeps the motion of foliage in full surge.
