Aigua-Blava, Vague Decoupee

by Chrystiane Charles, 70's   { The Charles }

Aigua Blava - 'blue water' in Catalan - is a cove of the Costa Brava where the Mediterranean keeps an almost unreal transparency. Chrystiane Charles has drawn from it a wave: on the lower part of a column of silvered brass, the foam coils in openwork, hollowed from the metal itself. The rectangular shade closes the top of the piece. The contrast holds between the rigour of the straight shaft and the liquid motion opened in its foot.
