by Jean Charles, 60's { The Charles }
Bateau borrows its form from a ship's rigging: a cylindrical brass body crossed by a horizontal bar, like the capstan or the cleat around which the moorings are turned. Jean Charles mounted it as a sconce, topped with a brass shade and crowned with a finial. The arm fixes to the wall by a backplate. The piece comes in gilt brass or in a dark patina. The shade folds the light gently downward.
