The duck alights, and a circle rolls up to it: Denise Pietra Corbara lodges in this lamp one of her favourite forms. The bronze bird, fine legs and lifted beak, leans against a perfect ring that has come to rest right against its body, like a wheel brought to a stop. The casting keeps its asperities beneath the patina, faithful to the work of the hand. The cylindrical shade sets on the back of the animal: the light descends on the bronze, skirts the circle, and inscribes on the surface the double silhouette of the bird and its wheel.
