Back

Larger than its junior, the Grand Pivert raises the same woodland bird on its bronze stem. Birds nourished the work of Félix Agostini as they did that of Denise Pietra Corbara, who then drew the shades and bordered her screens with a fine hand. The gilded body keeps the grain of the casting, the eye pierced in the hollow of the leg. A double screen caps the piece, veil within veil: the light passes from one leaf to the other, takes on nuance, and glides over the metal to the clawed foot set on the floor.
