by Felix Agostini, 1973 { The Agostini Legacy }
The stirrup supports the rider's foot: a compact mass, a sure footing. Félix Agostini makes of it one of his rare solid pieces, with no play of hollow or openwork. The bronze block, set on a flared foot, reads like an ingot of gold. The gilding holds the grain of the hand, its softnesses and its asperities. The straight shade caps this gathered base: the light descends on the faces of the bronze and plays on contrasts, gold and black, black and white.
