The tripod stands on three points: it was the seat of the Pythia at Delphi, it is the minimal stability that suffices not to waver. The lamp makes it its structure. Three bronze branches set out from a single knot and splay on the floor in a star, fine, tapered, keeping the grain of the hand-cast metal. At the summit, a shade with straight panels rests on this single point: the light falls along the splayed branches, and their drawing repeats on the floor in a three-rayed shadow.
