Cordage, the art of plaiting and coiling rope, gives this lamp its name through the metal spring wound around its shaft, like a line twisted on itself. Jacques Bobroff and Laurent Charles have capped it, in this Nordic version, with a broad metal dome in a saucer shape that turns the light downward in the manner of Scandinavian lighting. The polished shaft carries the twist of the cordage. The clarity, thrown back by the dome, comes down, warm and low.
