Tanis, a buried city of the Nile delta, yielded to archaeologists treasures of silver and gold that lay hidden for centuries. Philippe Parent evokes their gleam in a column of glass, tapered, mounted on a brass foot topped with a gilded sphere and crowned with a burgundy fabric shade lined with gold. The glass catches the light along its whole height; the gold warms the deep red of the cloth. The form, classical and clean, keeps something of a precious object brought to light.
