At Mandu, an old fortified city of central India, the palaces lined up arcades as far as the eye could see. Philippe Parent has drawn from it the shaft of this lamp: a column of pale wood carved with tiered pointed arches, like a façade reduced to its single bay. The wood, matte, contrasts with the fabric shade. The light comes down from the shade onto the carved relief.
