by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
In the 1960s, Jacques Charles launched a great series of stainless-steel lighting, resolutely Seventies in spirit. The Ruban lamp belongs to it. Endless, it coils, turns back, draws its loops in space in a single continuous gesture. Jacques Charles thus shaped broad ribbons of polished brass that rise from a square base and curve into volutes, opened into a heart at the top. The smooth, mirroring metal catches the light along its whole curve. The form is as much calligraphy as flower. In silver, it plays endlessly on fold and counter-fold.
