by Jacques Charles, 60's { The Charles }
In the 1960s, Jacques Charles launched a great series of stainless-steel lighting, resolutely Seventies in spirit. The barrel stands by the sole play of its staves, those curved, banded slats pressed one against the other. Jacques Charles took up the principle in metal: vertical, curved steel slats, assembled into a cask swollen at the centre, let the light filter through. The polish of the slats draws a spindle of reflections. Upright, the form lights from within, line after line, a sculpture of light.
