Venturi

by Laurent Charles, 80's   { The Charles }

The fluted column runs through the whole history of architecture, from the Greek temple to neoclassical furniture. The maison Charles has made of it the shaft of this lamp: a black column with vertical flutings, raised between a base and a capital of grained silvered metal, on a dark square base. The conical metal shade turns the light downward. The contrast holds in the matte black of the shaft and the gleam of the metal that frames it. The fluting runs top to bottom and gives rhythm to the vertical.
