In 1962, the Telstar satellite inaugurated transmissions through space: the maison Charles takes up the name for this floor lamp of spatial spirit. Three tapered metal legs splay into a tripod, like the legs of a probe set down on the ground, and carry a stem topped with a fabric shade, pale or deep red. The taut, clean line has something of the instrument. Polished metal catches the light along its edges.
