by La Maison Charles, 60's { The Charles }
In 1962, the Telstar satellite relayed the first television image from one continent to another, opening the age of space communications. The maison Charles borrows its name for a lamp of spatial spirit: three tapered metal feet, splayed in a tripod like the legs of a probe, carrying a stem and a fabric shade. The line, clean and taut, is close to a scientific instrument. The polished metal catches the light on its edges; the tripod gives the piece all its balance.
