Ecorce, 3 Tiers

by La Maison Charles, 2010   { The Charles }

Bark is the skin of the tree, wrinkled, split, marked by time. This sconce by Joëlle Fèvre was first created in ceramic before finding its language in bronze: fan-shaped elements with a wood grain, cast in patinated bronze, that stack and climb the wall like strips of bark torn from the trunk. The gathered folds and furrows spread upright, and the light surfaces between the strata, revealing the rough texture of the metal. Several models (A, B, C) combine and overlap at will. The bronze catches and diffuses the glow as the trees of a spring undergrowth would.
