by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
The oak is the tree of strength and endurance, beneath which the druids dispensed justice and kings handed it down. Chrystiane Charles gathered its leaves into a sconce: a bouquet of lobed oak leaves, cast in dark-patinated bronze, around a gilt heart from which the light wells. The gilded reverse catches the brightness and gives it back as a halo on the wall. The chased bronze renders each lobe and each vein. The robust oak leaf becomes a light.
