by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
The water lily occupied Monet for thirty years at Giverny, because nothing tells light better than this supple leaf stretched out on the water. Chrystiane Charles has spread the round leaves and the open flower around the foot of the lamp, cast in bronze, as on the surface of a pond. The slender stem rises at the centre toward a brass shade. The floating leaves and the corolla, chased, catch the light coming down from the shade.
