Agave A Gorge

by Chrystiane Charles, 70's   { The Charles }

The agave sometimes waits thirty years before flowering, just once, before dying, having spent its life growing a rosette of thick, pointed leaves in arid conditions. Chrystiane Charles cast this cluster in gilded bronze, its leaves fanning out from the heart, each one finely chiselled to its tip. The rosette rests on a cubic base of pale brass. Above this sculptural spray, the rounded metal lampshade, edged in gold, completes the composition.
