by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
The arum is one of the few plants to produce its own heat, the better to spread its scent: it raises a long spathe curled around a spadix, on spear-shaped leaves. Chrystiane Charles has cast flower and foliage in bronze, mounted on a soaring stem above a cubic base. The leaves, finely veined, accompany the upward flight. The conical fabric shade caps the whole.
